Currently, my standard rate for typical orienteering basemapping is $130 per square kilometer. The price I actually charge depends upon a number of variables, including photo scale, basemap scale, size of the basemap, and characteristics of the terrain. I can estimate a price given the above information, but I reserve the right to modify my quote when I actually have the job in hand.

Typically, my backlog is two to three months, but it varies tremendously. I do not put a job into my queue until I actually have aerial photos in-hand, and I avoid juggling the priority of jobs. You should inquire as to my current estimated backlog before sending a job to me.

To produce a basemap, I need stereo aerial photographic coverage of the entire area to be mapped, as well as an original copy of the USGS map(s) covering the area. The photos need to be 9 by 9 inch format, produced as diapositives (film positives contact-printed from the original negatives), and the camera focal length must be between 3 and 6.5 inches (80 to 160 millimeters).

When submitting a request for quote, or a basemapping job, please fill out the basemap request sheet, and return it to me.
